Almost ten years later, a Vampire Weekend B-side is re-released as the indie pop band's latest single.

Following the band's long awaited return which included a Lollapalooza "A-Punk" x3 rendition, Vampire Weekend released "California English Pt. 2" as a single Friday, August 10, 2018.

Having had attended their 2+ hour, phone-free Lollapalooza aftershow at Chicago's legendary venue Metro - I, like many other fans, anticipated one of their teased, unreleased tracks to be VW's next single. Curious as to what the future holds for the band, I decided to look further into the track.

At first listen, "California English Pt. 2" is a modern, auto-tuned track that's out of this world. Simplistic lyricism repeated throughout the song, the layered oh's are far more intriguing and the unexpected effects are rather unappealing.

While the track may hold a special place in the hearts of Rostam and fans, my fingers are crossed with hopes that the album doesn't fall under the single's shadow.

After hearing the unreleased tracks live on August 5 and internalizing them as a rock take on "bedroom pop" - everyone ought to forward to Vampire Weekend's next full-length release.
